This interchangeable head casting is machined to accept the proven DM head dome design, (with slightly different bolt notches on the outside diameter of the dome), to give you the best balance between maximum clamping surface area and maximum water flow volume. The Sphynx Head design is available with the Upper head stay machined for those who wish to use that bolt position.
